Program Areas

For the first time in history, our species is making an indisputable impact on the entire planet. Pushed by population growth and access to higher standards of living, our interconnected global human societies have altered the earth's climate and are on track to destroy one million animal and plant species. But we believe that humans still have an opportunity to harness that power toward a new sustainable balance, and we want to be part of the solution.
Climate Action

Climate Action

This is a decisive decade for our planet. We need to act swiftly to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the next few years if we have any chance of limiting warming to 1.5°C.  At the Erol Foundation, a priority goal is building public support to urge policymakers and the private sector to implement positive and equitable climate action. Erol supports growing the U.S. climate movement and empowering the public with the tools, training, and infrastructure to accelerate policy and corporate action in tackling climate change.

Who We Fund
Regenerative Food Systems

Regenerative Food Systems

One of the major contributors to anthropogenic climate change is agriculture: the global food system is responsible for up to 37% of emissions annually and is the leading cause of forest and biodiversity loss. By supporting communities in their efforts to build diverse, climate-smart food systems, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the livelihoods and resiliency of the communities bearing the brunt of climate change. At Erol, we believe that a stable and equitable food future requires both protecting ecosystems on land and sea while catalyzing the transition to regenerative food production.

Who We Fund
Strategic Communications

Strategic Communications

As a cross-cutting theme, Erol invests in strategic communications for the climate and regenerative food systems fields. Scientists have made the case for climate action, and now it is time to build public support to activate, inspire, and demand positive change. Activating the public will require a range of approaches to storytelling, fostering the creative use of new digital tools, promoting collaboration across diverse fields, and cultivating the connection between art and science.
