We always knew Fish Hub was an exciting, innovative, and first-of-its-kind tool for fishermen. We just didn’t realize that it could be used to bring communities together and strengthen local fishing businesses across the country. This past summer, Penobscot East Resource Center joined Amplifier Strategies and Cape Cod Fisheries Trust to make improvements to the Hub’s data gathering tools, making way for a new and improved platform poised to expand into new communities.

In 2013, Erol also decided to give a new grant to the design and technology teams for brand new Boat Plan features. We are excited to support an even more sustainable and user-friendly platform! The host of new features released on December 1st provide tools to fishermen for thorough business planning and harvest management.

New features include: yearly harvest trackcing, multi-species trip planning, customized trip types, catch status by species, and other streamlined tools for logging data and projecting results.

These updates have given our teams insight into the complexities of balancing ecosystem health with economic prosperity, and this project has inspired Erolf Foundation to pursue additional projects that support sustainable environmental systems.

Stay tuned for updates about our new project to stop harmful mining in Alaska’s Bristol Bay.
